Swift Worldwide Logistics and BBC Chartering move equipment for world’s largest diamond recovery vessel

Leer, 21 April 2021. - The multipurpose heavy-lift vessel BBC PEARL, operated by BBC Chartering, has successfully loaded two tower units and accompanying accessories in the Port of Tallinn, Estonia. Swift Worldwide Logistics entrusted the German multipurpose and heavy-lift shipping specialist BBC Chartering with the transport of this equipment from Estonia to South Africa. Destination of the units is Cape Town, where the towers will be installed on what is to become the largest diamond recovery ship in the world, the AMV3. The two largest components comprised of the upper and lower parts of the drilling tower, weighing approximately 159 and 214 metric tons, respectively. Cases and crates with accessories accounted for a total weight of about 50 metric tons. With the booking handled by BBC Chartering’s Bremen office, the loading operation in Tallinn had been thoroughly prepared by operations and the technical department, in close communication with the booking party, Swift Worldwide Logistics, the carrying vessel, Tschudi Logistics as the port agent and the manufacturer, Marketex Offshore Construction. Loading took place at the Vene-Balti port in Tallinn, at the quayside directly adjacent to the manufacturer’s premises. BBC PEARL departed Tallinn on 11 April, her arrival in Cape Town is currently estimated for 6 May 2021.

New Caribbean Service launched

BBC Chartering brings reliability and flexibility to the Caribbean Sea with a new service sailing twice a month from the port of Houston to Cartagena, Point Lisas, and Georgetown. We can call many other Caribbean ports on an inducement basis.

Newbuilding BBC ST PETERSBURG enters service

Welcome to our newbuilding BBC ST PETERSBURG, the first of a series of six ‘F500’ vessels. The work on board has been completed and everything is ready and set to transport your cargo. The Multipurpose Heavy-lift vessel, with a Deadweight of 12,400 tons and 500 mt combined crane capacity, set sails on May 1st and after loading in Far East she will be on her way South America. Always safe travels!

Ulrich Ulrichs appointed CEO of BBC Chartering

BBC Chartering is pleased to report that Ulrich Ulrichs has taken over the CEO position from Svend Andersen as announced in May of this year.

The shareholders would like to thank Svend Andersen for his many years with BBC Chartering and his contribution to develop and grow the company to become the market-leading operator of multipurpose and heavy lift vessels.

BBC Chartering appoints Ulrich Ulrichs as CCO

BBC Chartering, the market-leading operator of multipurpose and heavy lift vessels, announces the appointment of Ulrich Ulrichs as Chief Commercial Officer, effective May 2, 2019.
Ulrichs will head the group’s global commercial business development activities, complementing the existing management team. As part of the group’s future succession planning, Ulrichs is supposed to assume the role of CEO after a transition period.
Ulrichs is an experienced industry leader with a demonstrated history in international shipping and the proven ability in managing and developing family-owned shipping businesses. Within his 20 year-long tenure in shipping, Ulrichs served AAL and Rickmers in various management positions, and last in the capacity of CEO of Rickmers-Line.

BBC Chartering and Seaboard create joint “Andino Service”

As part of their mission to improve services for shippers moving cargo between the US Gulf Coast, Jamaica, and ports in Ecuador, Peru and Chile, BBC Chartering and Seaboard Marine are pleased to announce a new strategic cooperation which will be marketed as “Andino Service.”

Beginning November 29, 2018, Seaboard Marine and BBC will operate a string of at least five (5) vessels dedicated to serving these trade lanes. This cooperative space sharing arrangement improves the value proposition of both parties as it offers shippers higher frequency, increased capacity, and hence a better service through more choice and flexibility.

BBC Chartering launches new monthly service connecting the Persian Gulf and India with Australia

BBC Chartering announces the launch of a new monthly service between the Persian Gulf, India and Australia. The connection is first served by the M/V BBC Brisbane which is currently on her way to load in Mumbai, Chennai and Port Kelang. She is scheduled to arrive in Brisbane in the first week of August.

With fixed monthly eastbound sailings, the new connection is the only service in the market which offers shippers of project and heavy lift cargo a most reliable and competitive frequent shipping solution to Australia. The capacity operates under BBC Chartering’s high-performance liner and semi-liner network for any port, any cargo service and utilizes the full range of multipurpose and heavy lift vessels operated by BBC Chartering.

The service is a major shipping contributor to Queensland’s “new generation rollingstock” (NGR) project. As part of this, an agreement was signed to transport new train-coaches and perform 18 consecutive monthly voyages from Mumbai, India to Brisbane, Australia. BBC Chartering launches "BBC Euro-Gulf Express Line"

Following the extension of BBC’s westbound capacity with BBC’s Med-America Service, BBC Chartering now adds a regular “apac service” departing every fortnight from the Continent to the US-Gulf starting mid-June. 

The capacity is marketed as “BBC Euro-Gulf Express Line” and offers project cargo customers most flexible transport solutions, reliable service frequency and short transit times. The capacity operates under BBC Chartering’s liner and semi-liner network for any port, any cargo (apac service) and utilizes the carrier’s fleet of 180 MPP and HL vessels, including Ro/Ro Tonnage

“We are pleased to launch this new ‘express line’ which connects Hamburg with the first US Gulf port in about 19 days. This brings customers a new level of service and significant time savings compared to existing services in the market,” said Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering. 

It is against the background of existing volume contracts which offer shippers reliable and steady westbound capacity and with that excellent opportunity to consolidate cargo at the continents’ most popular project cargo hubs. 28 July 2015 – BBC Chartering is pleased to introduce “apac service” as a new trademark which represents the carrier’s promise to service “any port, any cargo.” With that, BBC Chartering announces its intention to operate the world’s first global high performance inducement service for project, breakbulk, and general cargo.
