Swift and BBC move equipment for world’s largest diamond recovery vessel

The multipurpose heavy-lift vessel BBC PEARL, operated by BBC Chartering, has successfully loaded two tower units and accompanying accessories in the Port of Tallinn, Estonia. Swift Worldwide Logistics entrusted the German multipurpose and heavy-lift shipping specialist BBC Chartering with the transport of this equipment from Estonia to South Africa. Destination of the units is Cape Town, where the towers will be installed on what is to become the largest diamond recovery ship in the world, the AMV3. The two largest components comprised of the upper and lower parts of the drilling tower, weighing approximately 159 and 214 metric tons, respectively. Cases and crates with accessories accounted for a total weight of about 50 metric tons. With the booking handled by BBC Chartering’s Bremen office, the loading operation in Tallinn had been thoroughly prepared by operations and the technical department, in close communication with the booking party, Swift Worldwide Logistics, the carrying vessel, Tschudi Logistics as the port agent and the manufacturer, Marketex Offshore Construction. Loading took place at the Vene-Balti port in Tallinn, at the quayside directly adjacent to the manufacturer’s premises. BBC PEARL departed Tallinn on 11 April, her arrival in Cape Town is currently estimated for 6 May 2021.
