COVID-19 Statement from BBC Chartering

We’re told that the best thing all of us can do right now to fight the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home. Our 31 offices around the world are responding to their local situation appropriately as it evolves, but all of our people are set up to work from home and provide the service you count on.

During this period when many of us will be working from home, our email will work the same as always, and you can find our mobile numbers under Contacts. If you’re calling and you know who you need to speak with, then it’s best to call that person’s mobile number. Otherwise, call our local office numbers as you normally would, and we’ll take care of you.

Our vessels continue to operate, and our world-wide team stands ready to move your cargo as always. And as always, we will work to ensure the wellbeing of our staff, our communities and all of you.

We hope you will all remain healthy and safe. Take care, and let us know how we can help.

IMO2020 Low Sulphur – “Agenda for compliance”

As of January 1, 2020, the International Maritime Organization’s ‘Low Sulphur Cap’ regulation will be in effect. From this date onwards, the limit for Sulphur in fuel oil used on board of all ships operating outside designated emission control areas (ECAs) will be reduced to 0.50% m/m (mass by mass).

To match this requirement, we have decided together with our tonnage partners to implement an “Agenda for Compliance” for Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LS MGO) for the entire BBC Chartering fleet. In the past months we have already started to work on this agenda with ship specific implementation plans, so we can ensure our fleet is ready to operate on compliant fuel on the effective date of the regulation.

While we can inform you that the implementation of this agenda is on track, we are also pleased to assure that customers will continue to enjoy the usual quality of service and performance from the market’s leading fleet of multipurpose and heavy lift vessels.

However, there will be a financial impact of using LS MGO regarding the bunkering cost of our vessels in the future and therefore we will have to adjust the pricing of our services towards the end of the year accordingly.

As usual, our global team will help you with any request or inquiry you may have. We take this opportunity to thank all customers for the continued support and for helping us to pave the way into a cleaner and greener future of project shipping.
