Petrochemical units for US Gulf Coast project
May 2015 – The ongoing U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project of a major operator includes the construction of an ethane cracker at the Cedar Bayou plant in Baytown, Texas and two polyethylene units in Old Ocean, Texas near the Sweeny complex.
For the latter, BBC Chartering shipped a number of ethylene refinery units from Ulsan, Republic of South Korea, to Freeport, Texas. The recently completed transport onboard the BBC Pearl comprised various heavy tanks, columns and treating units; the heaviest item weighed about 230mt.
The BBC Pearl is a 14,800 dwt vessel capable of lifting up to 800mt. BBC Chartering currently operates a fleet of 150 MPP / HL vessels and provides lifting capabilities up to 900mt.
