BBC Chartering feeds "La Perla" pipes, Venezuela

BBC vessels provided offshore storage and feeding solutions for giant LNG field works

April 2014 – The “La Perla” is South America’s biggest ever gas discovery and one of the largest LNG finds in the world. The field was discovered by Repsol and Eni in 2009 in the Cardón IV block, and is located 50 miles offshore in shallow water of the Gulf of Venezuela.

Since the discovery, a total of five gas wells have been drilled. They are put into production using offshore platforms and underwater connections to carry the gas onshore, form where it is to be processed and sent through the Venezuelan distribution network.

BBC Chartering just completed the assignment where it supported the transportation and installation of a hub platform and two satellites platforms, of a 30-inch diameter and 67-kilometres-long offshore export pipeline, of two 14-inch diameter clad infield flowlines and other infield cables. Marine construction works of this spread were performed by offshore construction vessels Saipem 3000 and Castoro 7.

Three BBC Chartering vessels, the BBC Weser (3x 80mt cranes / 17,000dwt), BBC Vermont (2x150mt cranes / 12,780 dwt), and a BBC California type (2x 180mt cranes / 12,780dwt) vessel were chartered to deliver pipe transportation, offshore storage and feeding solutions.
