BBC Chartering introduces "apac service"

July 28, 2015 – BBC Chartering is pleased to introduce “apac service” as a new trademark which represents the carrier’s promise to service “any port, any cargo.” With that, BBC Chartering announces its intention to operate the world’s first global high performance inducement service for project, breakbulk, and general cargo.

“Our ‘apac service’ stands for what BBC Chartering is all about”, said Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering. “We serve ‘any port, any cargo,’ and we are extremely proud that our global organization can operate such a service, which provides customers an unrivalled project, breakbulk, and general cargo shipping experience”. According to BBC Chartering, customers benefit from apac in terms of flexibility for inducements along trade lanes, global coverage on over 30 high frequency trades, decrease in risk with market-leading shipping performance, receiving the highest value through integrated shipping solutions, and reliability with a fleet which is largely controlled within the carrier’s group of companies.

According to Andersen, BBC Chartering currently manages about 6,000 port calls annually which create a network of more than 30 regular and highly frequented trades with up to weekly sailings. With a current trading capacity of approximately 1.5 million tons deadweight (dwt) on about 150 multipurpose and heavy lift vessels globally, BBC Chartering is in a position to offer and create unique value. “The combination of cargo is how we can contribute to a share-economy, i.e. better utilizing the world’s largest fleet of modern project carriers to the overall benefit of our customers and the environment,” remarked Andersen.

Under apac, BBC Chartering promotes the following originating regions as service areas: North America, South America, Europe/ Continent, Mediterranean, Africa, Middle East, and Far East, including Australia. In addition, regional and special destination services are offered for Central America, Caribbean, Great Lakes, intra-Europe, Caspian Sea, and for Arctic Sea sailings. More information about apac service, its integration with existing BBC services, and updated schedules can be found on the carrier’s website.

BBC Chartering announces bi-weekly Trans-Atlantic service

June 2015 – BBC Chartering has successfully accomplished its first Airbus voyage from Hamburg, Germany to Mobile, Alabama. The carrier takes this as an opportunity to promote the service as a new regular sailing which is open for additional volumes to be shipped from Continental Europe to the US Gulf and East Coast.

As reported earlier, Airbus built its first U.S. Manufacturing facility to assemble and deliver A319, A320 and A321 aircraft to meet the growing needs of its customers in the United States and elsewhere. The Mobile plant is now the company’s fourth’ major production facility in the network which includes Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; and Tianjin, China. According to Airbus, the new production facility is expected to employ about 1,000 people when it reaches full annual output of 40 to 50 aircraft. This requires constant supply of large components which are scheduled to arrive bi-weekly onboard a BBC Chartering operated vessel.

“We congratulate Airbus on this first shipment and we are very proud that we could qualify to become the carrier of choice for this strategic project“, stated Svend Andersen, CEO of BBC Chartering, who heads the world’s leading service provider for project-, breakbulk and general cargo shipping. Svend Andersen added, “This new service operates on a part cargo basis and also represents an opportunity for other project-, breakbulk or general cargo customers and their European exports to the US Gulf or on to other East-Coast destinations.” This service is a major upgrade to BBC Chartering’s network which currently offers up to weekly sailings on some of its highest frequented trades.

For the Airbus maiden voyage, BBC Chartering procured the 2011 built BBC Fuji, a 9,300 tons deadweight (dwt) multipurpose, heavy lift (MPP / HL) vessel capable of lifting up to 700mt. The carrier’s total procured capacity currently amounts to 1.5 million tons deadweight (dwt) and offers lifting capacities up to 900mt on a fleet of currently 150 MPP / HL vessels. The scale of the BBC Chartering service network allows to offer highest shipping performance and economics for engineered transports at any port, for any cargo, literally around the world.
